Singhampton, Hamilton and Niagara

Well Hello Bloggers!
Hope your weekend went well we had such a fantastic weekend spent with family, friends and favorite places.
Saturday morning we had a real treat when Bill, Daphne and their entire family came over for a real country hoe down BBQ. Let's start with the food there was chicken, ribs, pork, corn, salads, potatoes, angry onions (personal favorite), roasted veggies and lots of desserts. We really ate until our bellies were overstuffed.
Activities included: bubbles, trips to the lake, horseshoes, catch, manhunt, campfire sing alongs and most importantly the most vicious/amazing mashmellow fight in Canada. More of that to come later.

Bill below just roasting a weenie! He is such a treat and can tell you anything about birds or how to renovate a bathroom. He also made us fresh bread and buscuits so the carb free days will have to wait until later on.

Here is the lovely Daphne- she plays a mean accordian and can make anyone feel welcome. She also gave us so much of her clothes. If we wanted the house she would have given that us too!

Meet the kids we have Darlene in the back with Derrick and then Debbie and Diane. They are such sweethearts and were so helpful bringing most of the food and all the cleanup. We had so many good memories that will last us a long time.

Meet the Grandkids- we have Amanda in the purple who is 13 and shes a real sweetheart. Then we have Melissa who is 17 and can throw a mean baseball. Then William who is 18 and is a trooper with his younger cousins keeping them occupied. Then Mya who is 4 and she is the life of the party. Then we have Brittany who is like the animal whisperer and can make any squirrel feed right out of her hands.

Here is Rick who is married to Darlene. He should become a world champion mashmellow snipper because she whips them so hard at close range that they could leave a welt. I've never been so scarred and thrilled all at the same time in my life before. He leaves no mercy for the young or old they all get it at the same force...
Just a living and loving in unity! Nothing more relaxing than sitting back, toasting your feet and singing to a tune by campfire.

After we left Bill and Daphnes on Monday morning we headed for Hamilton for the night. Upon arriving at the Howard Johnson we realized I had yet again picked a scuzzy hotel! It had the many ammenities including a hooters and yuk yuks in the building. Our view included a dumpster that blocked our personal entrance. The best part of Hamilton was my good friends came to get me and bring me into Burlington! We had such a fantastic meal at Emma's and had such good laughs. Then we went for gelato before returning back to the hotel. The only picture of the night was the food since I forgot to get one of our beautiful faces. Thanks again Ang, Lee and Jenny for the wonderful evening!!

We left Hamilton in the morning after I broke the waffle machine and headed towards Niagara Falls. The drive wasn't that terrible at all and the falls were very misty. We only stayed long enough to get a picture and fridgy but this one is a keeper! Nan was happy she came because she didnt think they were that big but she said they could turn your stomach just thinking about that water!

We then ventured to one of our favorite stops- Niagara on the Lake. We had a wonderful morning of twacking (NFLD term for shopping). We also had a wonderful lunch at an Irish cafe.

After lunch we did some more shopping and had an ice cream (no suprise there haha). For many years Mom has wanted to do the horse and buggy tour and seeing as though we don't know if we will be back we decided it should be now or maybe never. It was enchanting and well worth it. We headed back to our hotel after this and it was not 2 minutes into the car until the skies opened and the rain came down in cats, dogs and mooses! We were such lucky ducks! The hotel is increadible and super nice for a change. Tonight we plan on heading back to "The Donut Diner" a diner that claims it has 2.99 breakfast all day long for dinner and then renting a movie in the hotel room tonight.

Tommorow we head back into the States and are heading back towards home.
See you soon with more updates xo

Michigan and Ontario

Hi Bloggers!
Ok so we are currently in Singhampton Ontario at my great uncle and aunts house and luckily they have a bell wireless stick so I can update all of you loves all about our adventures. So we will start with Wednesday we left Michigan outside of Grand Rapids and left trying to make our way across Highway 2. Highway 2 is really a lovely drive along the great lakes except for one thing- THE SPEED LIMIT. So we understand it is not double laned but 90k an hour makes the best drivers have road rage. So it was slow going thats for sure and having Iron in every town makes you feel you are driving in circles.

PS Ottawa National Forest is really a large park.

Beautiful view of lake Superior... At lunchtime we stopped in Florence Wisconsin (yes we went through Wisconsin twice) and had subway which was a welcomed change. Of course I was tempted by the 49 cent cones at McDonalds in the US and we had an ice cream break in the afternoon.Ice cream has seriously become an addiction on this trip.

Meet the Mackinaw Bridge it is really long (8k) and you can see over the edge. Neadless to say I was loving it and Mom was having a mild panic attack. The sounds of the grids did not help ease Moms anxiety.
That night we ate at Ponderosa for supper in Gaylord Michigan. What a feed that was we had so much to eat and it was so fantastic Mom even made the comment it may have outscored Cracker Barrel. Bold Statement!

The next morning we left Gaylord Michigan and luckily hit the interstates again. Along the morning drive we saw an outlet mall with Liz Claiborne which Mom has been anxious to find so we stopped in and did an hour of shopping. Mom had a little success and I had none but it was nice to get out of the car. Then we stopped at crackle barrel for lunch and headed towards to Sarnia border. Luckily we did not have to wait very long on the bridge but the line coming into the US was at least 12 km long. I cant imagine trying to be that patient. We then arrived at the Wilsons! Barry-Anne and Larry we have known for a long long time. Barry-Anne is my tante Janis sister at they come to New Brunswick for 5 weeks every summer so we have lots of great growing up memories together. We had such a fantastic time at their home in Forest. We arrived and visited then had the most amazing feed of steak, corn, potatoes, salad and veggies. They live right on lake Huron so the view is fantastic. Please note the arm muscle on Jenny- oh to be 17 again.

This amazing platter of carb goodness became my best friend in Forest. The next morning we got up and went for a walk then a drive around Forest. It is such an increadible town I would move there in a heartbeat. We came back and had a quick lunch and then hit the road for Singhampton.

Just a quick picture to show you that Nan really is on the trip with us!

We drove up the coast of Ontario and made it to my great uncle and aunts house for around 4pm. We were greated by these lovely pets. Snowball is their bunny who is almost ten and she really is the softest thing alive!

Meet sunrise the worlds cutest/obese goldfish on the planet. I was happy to hear that my aunt Daphene is slowly cutting down on his food. I love him allready!!

Last evening we just relaxed and got ready for lunch preperation for today. Daphene and Bill are having all their 4 children and their 5 grandchildren for lunch today. So I'll have more pictures and blog stories for the next time.
Tommorow morning we head for Hamilton (whoop whoop) I'm excited to see my good friends Jenny and Ang. Then Monday we are heading to Niagara on the Lake. So keep checking back I should have a new blog on Monday night....
Lots of love- we should be back a week from today xoxox

Tommorow we are heading North to Singhampton to see my great uncle Bill and his wife Daphene. Two different worlds- Manitoba and North Dakota

Hi Bloggers!
Last time we checked in we were in Yorkton with the our friends and here they are- Kerry, Garrett and Liz. They have 4 other children as well but they were at the lake- such lovely people.

The sunflowers are small right n0ow in Manitoba but they sure are beautiful.

All my Dads family lives our west in Manitoba. My Nan has suffered from Alzheimers for many years now but I haven't had the chance to get out and visit her. It was two very emotional trips at the manor but well worth it.

My Dads side of the family had us over for a lovely family BBQ. Luckily all my aunts and uncles could take some time out of their scheduals and make time for me, Mom and Nan. We had such a great afternoon of stories, food and laughter. Wish I was closer to them to see them more often.

It doesn't hurt either that my Aunt Margaret lives right on the Assinaboine River.

Uncle Alberts girlfriend Wendy brought the most delicious cheesecake I have ever eaten. Uncle Bob did a delightful job at the cutting it too....

We left Winnipeg Monday evening and made our way to Grafton ND. On our mid morning stop we found amazing ice cream treats and Mom was super excited about the orange push pop she found.

We stopped in Bemenji ND for lunch and actually were looking for the Bonanza but once we arrived there it was replaced by another restaurant. Just the flowers at the table really set the atmosphere.
From the leather white chairs, the soft rock and the amazing food it was an all around treat.

We made two nice stops in the afternoon at amazing quilt shop and I bought my first quilt kit. Dear Lord what have I got myself into.... ahhhhhh

Meet the atmosphere at Dinner. These beasts starred at me during the whole meal but they weren't our worst guest by far...
On the upside there was an all you can eat taco buffet at $6.99 a plate.
Other guest in the restaurant included two six teen year old girls that were obnoxious and lied to say they were 12 to get the kids all you can eat price. They also were sitting with their grandparents. The grandfather was easy enough but the grandmother she was a real treat. She did a little jig even though she had no teeth...
But the desserts made up for everything else. Peanut Butter frozen pie delicioussss :)

Tommorow we head further down into Michigan
Hope all is well with you xo
