Super Saskatchewan

Bloggers! Welcome to Prairie Land!
Here I am driving from Camrose to Kindersely and it was so flat and straight I did not even need my hands on the wheel.... Such a welcomed change after those mountains...

I'm going to just say we pondered what in the world this championship might involve... :S

My Moms friends Blair and Karen live in Kinderseley and it is down this long dirt road to the farm....

Karen and Mom have the exact same birthdays even the same year. They have been friends since they were 16 and Mom and Karen did an exchange trip between Saskatchewan and Newfoundland...They have a wonderful home and we love them lots.

Blair and Karen took us around to their fields- they have been farmers their whole lives and they really give us an appreciation to what hard work means. Here we are in the canola crops.

They also have pea crops and grow yellow split peas like we use for peas pudding or peas soup.

They also have the barley crops that make beer!!! They have other crops as well including wheat and durham for pasta use. In total they have about 5000 acres of crop land....

This sprayer on the way to Karen and Blair reminded me of the Transformers. The machines are hugeee.

Containers that store the peas and other crops. You could not pay me enough money to climb that ladder. Farmers are so brave.
This combine is what cuts the crops and its blade spans over 40 feet. It is all programmed by GPS now and the technology is overwhelming.
The machinery overwhelmed me... it is quite a production for harvest and seeding.
Karen and Blair have a son Curtis and they have a lovely little family. His wife Rachel is just a peach and they have little Kale who is a real charmer.

Then they have little Deagan, only 7 weeks old. I could hold a settled baby forever- new babies are soooo sweet...
Karen has another large vegetable gardens. On our plate here we had buffalo or steak, carrots and freshly shelled peas, spinach salad from the garden, new potatoes that we dug out of the garden that afternoon and dill freshly picked. What a wonderful spread...
Rhubarb Custard and Rasberry Glazed pies for dessert. Fruit from the garden... rediculousss :)

The next day we headed to Saskatoon and we wanted to eat at one of the best pizza places in town- The Granada House.
My moms friend Shannon met us there for lunch and we stayed at her house for the night. Shannon and her husband Reg are the sweetest youngest looking couple in Saskatoon I think.

After lunch we went to go see this SUPERSTAR- her name is Vera Pamanaroff and she is my Mother other Mother. Mrs Pamanaroff is Karens mom and my mom met her on the farm when she was 16. Mom went to Sunningdale SK on a school trip and stayed with the Pamanaroffs for 0 days and they have been in contact ever since. Mrs Pamanaroff is very musical and treated us to little ditties.

We had a lovely evening with Mrs. Pamanaroff and her daughter Lucille. Lucille had us out for a lovely dinner then we went back to Shannon and Reg for the night. In the morning we woke up to the best breakfast that included homemade banana bread and CHEESECAKE! Can you imaginee... oink oink- I loved every bite of it :)

We then headed for Yorkton and we are here with Liz and Kerry Perepeluk for the night. We are loving every minute of it. We are watching football and having Chinese. I think we are spoiled with good friends across this country.
Lots of love
Tommorow we head for Manitoba xo

Alberta to see our favorite boy!

Hi Bloggers- what a great couple of days Alberta and Andrew have provided us. Although we don't really understand why its called wildrose country instread of wildlife country because we saw lots of animals.
The mountains through Jasper continued to be awe inspiring but it was so much nicer since the road was really good and we were on the bottom of them instead of driving on top of them. Here is Mount Robson one the largest in Canada.

One of the only animals we did not get to see what a sheep with really long horns. We saw baby ones but I would have loved to see a real one of these. PS- Jasper is a really cute town and we enjoyed our time browsing and hunting (for fridgies of course)

Welcome to Grande Cache- hometown of Andrew!!

We saw so many animals- we saw tons of dear, 4 moose, a black bear, a brown bear, moose and the biggest and best animal of them all- GUINESSSSS!!! See below to understand..

Mom and Andrew at the Rapids

Meet Guiness she is Andrews black lab who is almost 2 years old. She is the most well behaved little lady just like her aunt. We love her so much and Andrew makes such a good daddy.
She swims better than us all too!!!
Shes one HAPPY girl!!!
Mom and I taking in the sights at Sulfar Gates- it is sooooo increadible...
TWO WORDS-> FAMILY FRAMER
Aren't we cute- we should have been twins
Andrews birthday is this weekend so we celebrated early. Here we are at his house opening gifts on the deck.
Andrew is a master with the grill and cooked the most delicious dinner EVER. Look at that beef it is seriously ALBERTA BIG. We also had new potatoes, corn and aspergus. YUMMMMMYYYY...
Just like old time pictures we did not want to put candles on it because we would have burnt down the house- hahahaha- I had two pieces of this cake- it was delicioussss :)

We left Andrews this morning and headed towards Camrose Alberta. Once Mom declared she had never been to West Edmonton Mall, I could not resist and said its a must see if we are here. So we ventured in only for a quick hour but the water park bring out the inner child in me always- I REALLY WANT TO GET IN THERE!!!

Once we got to Camrose we all laughed when we saw our motel.... ok Budget girl right here but we had to take a step down after staying at the Best Western in Grande Cache it may not have the fireplace we had with Andrew but it is clean and has a fully loaded WiFi signal....
Doesn't take much to make me happy hahaha

Tommorow we head to Kindersly SK to visit my Moms friends Karen and Blair. Then Friday we head to Saskatoon. I'll try to blog tommorow night but if not check back Friday for more living and loving in unity.
Lots of love xo

Five Days in Paradise- Vancouver Island

Hi Bloggers!
So welcome to Nanoose Bay, BC. We arrived on Tuesday and we settled in quickly- how could you not with these AMAZING accomodations. We stayed with Sandy and Lyle good friends of my Moms since her glory days. They live right on the water and Sandy is a phenominal gardener.

Sandy and Lyle are hostests of the mostest which included a lovely guest bedroom that Mom and I got to stay in. The best feature of the room is the wave crashing upon the rocks that helps you sleep and wake up happy :)

Here are Mom and Sandy at Milner Gardens outside of Nanaimo. We went to this woodland garden that the Queen and Princess Diana have stayed at in the past.

Sandy and Lyle have four adorable little dogs. On the left is Libby she is 14 years old and the Mother of the gang. She is a real sook now which I enjoyed. Then on the right is Belle who is Libbys daughter. Belle is 12 and I almost took her home she is super shy unlike the picture- she isnt mean at all.

Tucker is the only male dog of the house and the Dad. He is deff a watch dog and is still very active for 13 years old.

Bailey is the veteran at 16 years young but her bows make her such a pretty girl!
We were all treated at this lovely market in Qualicum Bay. We bought lots of goodies including books, bells, rubs, movies, audio books, candles and fridgies! What an amazing afternoon- lots of people there too :)

This lovely market is in Coombs BC. It is very interesting cause goats live on the roof of the place. They have all types of goodies to eat, play and decorate with.

Some of my favorite goodies to buy are deff fresh fruit and boy did we clean up. Most of those blueberries were gone by the time I left this bench.

On the way to Coombs we had to stop at this ice cream place. I can remember coming here as a child when we would visit and a small is seriously verging on 3 scoops. It was a thrill then and still is- I suggest Moose tracks as a great option. Oh ya they also have penny candy which is always an added bonus!

Then we made our ritual visit to cathedral grove where the trees just remind us how precious nature is. Many of these trees have begun to fall in the last little while because of storms. It is really a magical place.

Mom almost blends in-so fun!!

Sandy, Nan, Mom and I then went to this super quaint fish and chips place called fish tails.
Nan had her homemade icecream since she is not a fish lover at all.

The fish came on a royal daulton plate with homemade tartar sauce. It was DIVINE :)
We left on Sunday morning from Vancouver Island and made it over safe and sound on the ferry. We drove out of Vancouver with no trouble and headed out on highway 99- the sea to sky highway. If you ever think this is a good way to head over close to Kamloops THINK AGAIN- TURN AROUND!!! We ended up on road that had full blown twist, you could not go more than 40-50km an hour on any section and there was NOTHING to see and no reception!!!

We did make it to Kamloops but what could have taken 3 hours if we went Highway 1 took us 7 hours of hell on earth taking highway 99.

Next blog up is our Alberta adventures through Jasper and with Andrew. We have some awesome stories and pictures including lots of wildlife!! Check back soon and thanks for being so patient for the BC portion. All of our love- we are halfway through the trip!!!
