Day 6- Horse Country Capital of the World

Hi Bloggers!

So welcome to the most pictures that we ever have put on the blog! We woke up this morning after a mostly restless night of sleep, between the trains, the man above us and the sirens we did not sleep all that much. We then got our stuff together and walked downtown ( I guess we learnt later we might have taken our life in our hands- deff a little sketchy parts) but once we made it we were happy.

Our plans for the day werent too mapped out but we did know we wanted to hit up the local market. The market was wonderful with lots of fresh fruits and vegtables. We had some blueberries and a bottle of water and decided to keep trucking.

While walking around the historic churches we found this gem. The holly trees are amazing and large. The breeze in this terrace was a nice escape from the heat.

This is where the story gets good- while walking we see a tour bus and Mom flags it down and asks if we are too late to join. Luckily they let us on board and we got to see a lot of Lexington that we would have never. Here is Mom at Keeneland race course where it is the hot spot of betting on the horses in season.

The track is increadible and such a nice place.

We then drove by this castle that was built by French Royalty and is now being rented as a bed and breakfast for a just 1000$ a night.

We visited many amazing horse farms where the owners live like the other half.

Probably our favorite stop- Old Friends is a rescue farm for old race horses and other horses that would otherwise be slaughtered.

The horse that played sea biscuit in the movie lives here.

Popcorn Delight (seabiscuit) is the farthest horse and the other horse has won over 1 million dollars in earnings on the race tracks in Europe. He has learnt to show his ID (tattoo under this lip) for a carrot.

I prefered the little ones.

After the tour we ate at the heart of Lexington at deSha's restaurant dining on french onion soup and coconut chicken.

We then shopped for a little but the downtown still needs a little restauration- not much to offer the shoppers but these hats were nifty and should be nice they are priced in the hundreds of dollars.

Around 3pm we headed back to the hotel by taxi and took a little nap. We were both just beat from the heat and the day. Then we had supper at Ruby Tuesday sampling their great salad bar and our now just relaxing and getting ready to hit the road tommorow.
See you all tommorow night in Indiana :)
