Five Days in Paradise- Vancouver Island

Hi Bloggers!
So welcome to Nanoose Bay, BC. We arrived on Tuesday and we settled in quickly- how could you not with these AMAZING accomodations. We stayed with Sandy and Lyle good friends of my Moms since her glory days. They live right on the water and Sandy is a phenominal gardener.

Sandy and Lyle are hostests of the mostest which included a lovely guest bedroom that Mom and I got to stay in. The best feature of the room is the wave crashing upon the rocks that helps you sleep and wake up happy :)

Here are Mom and Sandy at Milner Gardens outside of Nanaimo. We went to this woodland garden that the Queen and Princess Diana have stayed at in the past.

Sandy and Lyle have four adorable little dogs. On the left is Libby she is 14 years old and the Mother of the gang. She is a real sook now which I enjoyed. Then on the right is Belle who is Libbys daughter. Belle is 12 and I almost took her home she is super shy unlike the picture- she isnt mean at all.

Tucker is the only male dog of the house and the Dad. He is deff a watch dog and is still very active for 13 years old.

Bailey is the veteran at 16 years young but her bows make her such a pretty girl!
We were all treated at this lovely market in Qualicum Bay. We bought lots of goodies including books, bells, rubs, movies, audio books, candles and fridgies! What an amazing afternoon- lots of people there too :)

This lovely market is in Coombs BC. It is very interesting cause goats live on the roof of the place. They have all types of goodies to eat, play and decorate with.

Some of my favorite goodies to buy are deff fresh fruit and boy did we clean up. Most of those blueberries were gone by the time I left this bench.

On the way to Coombs we had to stop at this ice cream place. I can remember coming here as a child when we would visit and a small is seriously verging on 3 scoops. It was a thrill then and still is- I suggest Moose tracks as a great option. Oh ya they also have penny candy which is always an added bonus!

Then we made our ritual visit to cathedral grove where the trees just remind us how precious nature is. Many of these trees have begun to fall in the last little while because of storms. It is really a magical place.

Mom almost blends in-so fun!!

Sandy, Nan, Mom and I then went to this super quaint fish and chips place called fish tails.
Nan had her homemade icecream since she is not a fish lover at all.

The fish came on a royal daulton plate with homemade tartar sauce. It was DIVINE :)
We left on Sunday morning from Vancouver Island and made it over safe and sound on the ferry. We drove out of Vancouver with no trouble and headed out on highway 99- the sea to sky highway. If you ever think this is a good way to head over close to Kamloops THINK AGAIN- TURN AROUND!!! We ended up on road that had full blown twist, you could not go more than 40-50km an hour on any section and there was NOTHING to see and no reception!!!

We did make it to Kamloops but what could have taken 3 hours if we went Highway 1 took us 7 hours of hell on earth taking highway 99.

Next blog up is our Alberta adventures through Jasper and with Andrew. We have some awesome stories and pictures including lots of wildlife!! Check back soon and thanks for being so patient for the BC portion. All of our love- we are halfway through the trip!!!
